This isn’t your grandfather’s Tele. Fender’s Custom Telecaster FMT HH takes the classic silhouette and reworks it from the inside out, pairing a mahogany body with a carved flame maple top finished in a striking Black Cherry Burst urethane finish, edged in cream binding for extra visual pop. The set-neck construction (rather than the usual bolt-on) adds sustain and a smoother upper-fret feel, while the mahogany neck’s Modern “C” profile keeps things comfortable for hours of playing.
Tone comes courtesy of two Seymour Duncan humbuckers: an SHPGP-1B Pearly Gates Plus in the bridge for high-output crunch and sustain, and an SH-1N RP ’59 reverse-polarity humbucker in the neck for warm, articulate lead and rhythm work. A push/pull coil-tap on the tone control opens up single-coil-flavored tones alongside the standard humbucker voicing, and the 3-way toggle lets you move between bridge, combined, and neck positions with ease.
