The Jaguar has always been the offbeat sibling in Fender’s lineup, and the Player Series version keeps that character intact while updating it for modern playing. Its 24″ scale length shortens the string tension you feel under your fingers, making bends and chord voicings feel looser and more elastic than on longer-scale guitars. That shorter scale, combined with the Modern “C” neck profile and 9.5″ fingerboard radius, gives you a fretboard that’s fast without feeling flat or sterile.
Under the hood, this Jaguar breaks from vintage single-coil-only wiring with an HS configuration: a Player Series Alnico 3 humbucker at the bridge delivers thicker, hum-free output for riffs and leads, while the Alnico 2 single-coil at the neck keeps that glassy, chiming Jaguar sparkle for cleaner textures. A simple master volume and tone, run through a 3-position blade switch, keep the controls intuitive despite the guitar’s unconventional looks.
The alder body wears a gloss polyester Black finish and is dressed with a 3-ply Black/White/Black pickguard and nickel/chrome hardware, including skirted amp knobs that nod to the model’s surf-rock roots. The 6-saddle vintage-style bridge with a floating tremolo tailpiece adds subtle pitch shimmer without straying into dive-bomb territory, and 22 medium jumbo frets over a Pau Ferro fingerboard with white dot inlays round out a neck built for expressive playing.
