Jimi Hendrix didn’t set out to redesign the Stratocaster – he just flipped his right-handed guitars over to play them left-handed, and in doing so stumbled onto a genuinely different-sounding instrument. Fender’s Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster recreates that accidental design in exacting detail, right down to the reverse headstock and reverse-slant bridge pickup that helped define his voice.
That flipped headstock isn’t just cosmetic. It lengthens the string path on the bass strings while shortening it on the treble side, which tightens up the low end and makes bending and vibrato on the high strings feel noticeably freer. Loaded with three American Vintage ’65 single-coil pickups, including that reverse-angled bridge unit, the guitar delivers warm, tight tone with extra upper-harmonic sparkle – a signature Hendrix quality that’s hard to fake.
The 9.5-inch radius C-shaped maple neck with medium jumbo frets strikes a balance between comfortable chording and effortless soloing, with enough flatness in the fretboard to bend notes hard without fretting out.
