Description

The Classic Player Baja Telecaster was penned by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Christopher Fleming, and it shows in the details that separate it from a standard Tele. An ash body wears a thin polyester finish in black, paired with a soft V-shaped maple neck that feels vintage under the hand but plays modern thanks to a 9.5″ fretboard radius and 21 medium jumbo frets.

Where this guitar really sets itself apart is the electronics. A custom vintage-style Broadcaster single-coil sits in the bridge for that classic twang with extra bite, while a custom “Twisted” Tele single-coil handles neck duties with added output and clarity. Instead of the usual 3-way switch, Fender fitted a 4-position blade switch: bridge alone, bridge and neck in parallel, neck alone, or neck and bridge in series for a fatter, humbucker-like tone. Pull up on the S-1 switch and you unlock two more voices, including out-of-phase settings, for a total of six distinct pickup combinations from one guitar.

Hardware stays true to Tele tradition with a vintage-style bridge and three brass saddles, vintage-style tuning machines, and a synthetic bone nut for consistent tuning stability. Knurled chrome knobs and top hat switch tips add a tactile, road-worn feel, while the 4-bolt neck plate carries a “Custom Shop Designed” engraving as a nod to its pedigree.
