Description
Built at Fender’s U.S. facility, the American Special Stratocaster HSS delivers real domestic craftsmanship without the premium price tag of the top-tier lines. It’s a Strat that rewards players who want vintage vibe and modern versatility in one guitar, now back in 3-Tone Sunburst over a rosewood board.
The alder body wears a gloss polyurethane finish, while the Modern “C”-shaped maple neck gets a satin poly coat that feels broken-in from day one. A 9.5″ radius rosewood fingerboard with white dot inlays and 22 jumbo frets makes bending and fast lead work effortless, and the 1.685″ synthetic bone nut keeps tuning stable at the top of the neck.
Pickup-wise, this HSS configuration pairs an Atomic humbucker in the bridge for thicker, higher-output tones with Texas Special single-coils in the middle and neck for that unmistakable Strat sparkle. The 5-position blade switch covers everything from humbucker growl to glassy in-between quack to warm neck tones. Fender’s Greasebucket tone circuit shapes both tone controls, rolling off highs without piling on extra bass — a subtle but useful upgrade over a standard passive tone pot.
Other details worth noting:
- Alder body, Modern “C” maple neck, 25.5″ scale length
- 6-saddle vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge
- 3-ply black pickguard, black plastic control knobs
- Chrome and nickel/chrome hardware
- Dual “T”-roller string trees and large ’70s-style headstock decal
- Strung with Fender USA 250L NPS strings (.009-.042)
- Includes a Deluxe gig bag
A genuinely playable, American-made Stratocaster that covers a wider tonal range than a standard three single-coil setup.
