Description
The American Special Stratocaster exists to answer one question: how much genuine, made-in-USA Fender character can you pack into an accessible instrument? Quite a lot, it turns out. This one wears a 2-Color Sunburst finish over an alder body, paired with a maple neck and matching maple fingerboard featuring black dot inlays and a 9.5″ radius that suits both chord work and lead playing.
Under the hood are Texas Special single-coil pickups in the bridge, middle, and neck positions, wired to a 5-way blade switch for the full range of Strat tones – snappy bridge quack, warm neck rounds, and the in-between glassy positions this guitar is famous for. Fender’s Greasebucket tone circuit is fitted to both tone controls, rolling off highs without piling on extra bass, so your cleans stay clear even as you dial back tone.
Playing feel comes from a Modern “C”-shaped neck with a satin polyurethane finish, 22 jumbo frets, and a synthetic bone nut at 1.685″. A 6-saddle vintage-style synchronized tremolo and Fender Standard sealed tuning machines keep things stable and old-school-correct, while dual “T”-roller string trees help smooth out the transition to the tuning posts.
