The Jaguar has always been the guitar for players who like a little mischief in their tone. First released in 1962 as Fender’s flagship, its quirky switching and offset shape made it a favorite of surf rockers and, decades later, indie and alt icons who wanted something with more bite than a Strat and more personality than a Tele. The American Professional Jaguar keeps that rebellious spirit intact while quietly upgrading nearly everything under the hood.
At the heart of the tone are Michael Frank-designed V-Mod single-coil Jaguar pickups, overwound for a hotter, more vintage-informed voice with real midrange grit. A treble-bleed circuit means you can pull back the volume knob without losing top-end sparkle, so your tone stays articulate at any setting. The four-way pickup switch adds a fourth voicing beyond the usual three, and a two-position slide switch flips the pickups in and out of phase for that hollow, nasal snarl the Jaguar is known for.
Playability gets a real update too. The new modern Deep C neck profile sits between a Modern C and a U shape, giving your hand something substantial to hold onto for both chords and single-note runs. Narrow-tall frets make bending accurate and keep chords in tune all the way up the neck. Down at the bridge, brass Mustang saddles and a screw-in tremolo arm add stability and a bit of extra sonic zip, addressing the string-popping quirks that plagued vintage Jaguars.
Finished in Sonic Gray with an alder body and maple neck, this Jaguar ships in Fender’s Elite Molded hardshell case, built with contoured protection, TSA-approved latches, and a stackable design for storage or travel.
