Fender took the blueprint that built the electric guitar’s reputation and asked where it could actually be improved. The American Professional Telecaster is the result — a guitar that respects the original’s DNA while quietly upgrading the parts that matter most to how it plays and sounds.
At the heart of it are Tim Shaw’s V-Mod single-coil pickups, each voiced individually for its position using a mix of alnico magnet types. The bridge pickup snaps and bites, the neck pickup rounds out warm and full, and together they cover the whole Tele vocabulary. A treble-bleed circuit keeps the top end intact as you roll back the volume, so the tone doesn’t go dull when you’re dialing things down.
The neck gets Fender’s new “Deep C” profile — thicker through the shoulders than a standard Modern C, landing somewhere between C and U shape, which gives your hand more to hold onto for both chords and single-note runs. Narrow-tall frets make bending strings feel more precise, especially up the neck. Down at the bridge, three compensated brass barrel saddles handle intonation with a vintage-informed feel, tucked under a redesigned ashtray cover that won’t get in the way of your palm-muting hand.
This example comes finished in classic 3-Color Sunburst with a maple neck, paired with a bone nut for clean, consistent string resonance.
