The Modern Plus carries forward the design DNA of Suhr’s Modern Pro at a more accessible price point, without cutting corners on feel or performance. A basswood body wears a genuinely striking flame maple top in Trans Whale Burst, bound with a clean scraped edge, while the asymmetrical Modern body shape keeps things balanced and comfortable whether you’re seated or strapped in for a gig.
Up the neck, roasted maple meets a pau ferro or roasted maple fingerboard (grain-dependent), shaped into Suhr’s Modern Elliptical profile that swells from .800″ to .850″ as you climb the neck. The 10″-14″ compound radius fingerboard, jumbo stainless steel frets, and 1.650″ Tusq nut make bending and fast runs feel effortless, and the innovative neck heel design opens up upper-fret access without sacrificing stability.
Electronics are built for range: an SSH+ bridge humbucker and SSV neck humbucker are joined by an optional V60LP middle pickup, with a push/pull tone control that splits both humbuckers for classic single-coil tones. Suhr’s proprietary locking tuners and a Gotoh 510 tremolo with steel block keep tuning locked in through aggressive whammy use, all finished in chrome hardware.
