Description
The JP160 marks a first for the Sterling by Music Man John Petrucci line: a “Low Profile” double-locking tremolo. This bridge design keeps intonation locked in and tuning rock-solid even under aggressive whammy bar abuse, making it a natural fit for Petrucci’s demanding playing style.
Under the hood, a forearm-scooped Basswood body pairs with a roasted maple neck for comfortable reach and a stable, resonant platform. The roasting process also gives the neck a broken-in feel and added durability. A 5-bolt neck joint reinforces the connection between neck and body, while a dual-action truss rod keeps setup adjustments simple.
Up top, 24 medium jumbo frets on a rosewood board with custom JP inlays give players room to roam, backed by a 16″ radius that favors fast lead work without sacrificing chord comfort. The HH pickup configuration runs through a 3-way toggle, and a push/push volume control adds a 12dB boost for solos that need to cut through the mix instantly – no separate pedal required.
