Description
The Solo-II Platinum takes Schecter’s single-cutaway design and dresses it up with a satin silver finish, black multi-ply binding, and Platinum ‘Tempest’ inlays on an ebony fretboard. It’s a set-neck build with a mahogany body and a solid arched maple top, giving it the resonance and sustain that this body style is known for.
Under the hood sit an EMG 57 in the bridge and EMG 66 in the neck, an active pairing that stays tight and articulate under high gain while cleaning up nicely with the volume rolled back. Controls are straightforward: Volume/Volume/Tone with a 3-way switch, plus a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment to power the EMGs.
The 3-piece maple neck carries a Thin ‘C’ profile that measures .787″ at the first fret and .866″ at the twelfth, running on a 24.75″ scale with 24 X-Jumbo frets and a 14″ fretboard radius – a fast, comfortable neck for both riffing and lead work. A Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut (1.653″ wide) and Schecter locking tuners keep tuning stable, while the TonePros T3BT Tune-o-matic and T1Z tailpiece lock in string energy for solid transfer to the body.
