Description
The C-1 Hellraiser FR takes Schecter’s mainstay C-1 body and loads it up for players who live in drop tunings and dive bombs. Under that white gloss finish sits a mahogany body paired with a set-neck construction featuring Ultra Access, giving you unobstructed reach to the upper frets without sacrificing the sustain and warmth that a glued neck joint provides.
That neck itself is a 3-piece mahogany build, chosen specifically for long-term stability — the extra glue joints resist the warping that can creep into single-piece necks over years of temperature and humidity swings. It’s capped with a rosewood fingerboard, whose natural oiliness suits the 24 jumbo frets and keeps the tone grounded and full-bodied rather than glassy. Abalone Gothic cross inlays run up the board, matched by abalone binding around the body edge.
Tone comes from an EMG 81TX/89R active pairing. The bridge 81TX gives you dual-mode flexibility — the classic aggressive 81 crunch alongside a punchier single-coil voice — while the neck 89R runs alnico V magnets with its own preamp for switching between fat dual-coil warmth and a clearer single-coil tone. Controls are laid out as Vol (tap)/Vol (tap)/Tone with a 3-way switch, so both pickups get coil-tap access.
Tuning stability is handled by Grover Rotomatics with an 18:1 gear ratio for precise, backlash-free adjustments, feeding into a Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo — the industry benchmark for staying in tune through aggressive whammy use. Black chrome hardware ties the look together against the white gloss finish, and a 25.5″ scale keeps string tension familiar for players moving from standard-scale guitars.
