Description
The Schecter Hellraiser C-8 FR takes the brand’s extended-range platform down to eight strings without losing any of the low-end clarity that low tunings demand. A mahogany body with an arched top and grey pearloid/black-white-black multi-ply binding sets the tone, while a set-neck construction with Ultra Access joint keeps the upper frets within reach.
Stability is the name of the game on an 8-string, so Schecter built the neck from three pieces of mahogany reinforced with carbon fiber rods flanking the truss rod. That combination resists twisting over time and holds true intonation across the guitar’s 28″ scale. A rosewood fingerboard with grey pearloid Gothic Cross inlays covers 24 X-Jumbo frets on a 16″ radius, shaped into a Thin ‘C’ profile that stays comfortable even on this longer scale.
Tone comes from EMG 808 active pickups, purpose-built for 8-string guitars with Alnico V-loaded wide-aperture coils. They were designed to fix the muddiness that plagued early 8-string pickups on the low F# string, delivering a tighter, more defined low end along with cleaner harmonics. Volume/Volume/Tone controls and a 3-way switch give you flexible pickup blending, powered by a 9-volt battery in a clip-in compartment.
A Floyd Rose 1000 Series bridge with a matching locking nut handles tuning stability under heavy riffing, while Grover tuners round out the hardware in a black chrome finish. Finished in Gloss Black, this right-handed guitar is built in South Korea. Strings are Ernie Ball (.009-.080), and the SGR-1C case is sold separately.
