Description
Mark Holcomb’s signature 7-string isn’t just a Custom 24 with an extra string bolted on — it’s engineered from the ground up for modern extended-range playing. The 26.5″ scale length keeps low B tension tight and defined, while the wide thin satin maple neck lets fast legato and technical riffing flow without fatigue. A 20″ radius ebony fretboard, bound and inlaid with PRS’s classic bird markers, flattens out nicely for bending without choking out on the higher frets across all 24 of them.
Under the shallow violin-carved maple top (offered in quilted maple or walnut veneer) sits a mahogany back that keeps the tone grounded while the top adds shimmer and complexity. Holcomb’s own Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega pickups anchor the sound — Alpha in the neck for clarity, Omega in the bridge for tight, articulate low-end punch, both voiced specifically for 7-string metal and progressive tones. A 3-way blade switch paired with a push/pull tone knob unlocks coil-splitting, so you can move between humbucking aggression and single-coil clarity without leaving the riff.
Black hardware throughout keeps the look cohesive and moody, matching the Holcomb Burst finish. A string-through, plate-style 7-string bridge adds sustain and stability, and PRS-designed tuners keep everything locked in tune under heavy playing.
