The G5655T-CB takes the beloved Double Jet shape and reinforces it with a solid spruce center block running the full length of the 1.75″-deep body. That internal spine tightens up the resonance you’d expect from a semi-hollow, tames unwanted feedback, and lets you push into higher-gain territory without the guitar getting away from you — all while keeping the airy, chambered character that makes these instruments feel alive in your hands.
Pickup-wise, this one’s built for contrast. The bridge-mounted Black Top Filter’Tron brings the snarl and midrange bite Gretsch is known for, while the neck position gets a dual-coil Super HiLo’Tron voiced for glassy top-end sparkle, punchy low end, and notably quiet operation. Blend them together on the 3-way switch and you’ve got a genuinely versatile tonal palette, whether you’re chasing rockabilly twang or something dirtier.
The five-ply maple body carries a bound arched top and back, matched to a bound maple neck with a 12.5″ radius rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. Controls are laid out with individual volumes for each pickup, a bridge-only tone knob, and a master volume, all topped with G-arrow knobs.
Hardware includes an anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge paired with a flat-handle Bigsby-licensed B50 vibrato for shimmer and pitch dives, Grover die-cast tuners for tuning stability, and knurled strap retainer knobs. Finished in gloss Rosa Red with a black plexi pickguard and pearloid Gretsch logo on the headstock, it’s a striking, stage-ready semi-hollow.
