Description
The G5420T Electromatic is where Gretsch’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll voice meets everyday playability. Built on a fully hollow 5-ply maple body with parallel tone bars and a sound post, this guitar breathes and resonates in a way solid-body instruments simply can’t, producing that huge, punchy chime Gretsch players have chased for decades. Finished in a warm Orange Stain gloss, it’s got the look to match the sound.
At the heart of the tone are dual Black Top Filter’Tron humbuckers, wired through master volume, master tone, and individual pickup volumes, plus a treble-bleed circuit that keeps your top end intact as you roll back the gain. A 3-position toggle lets you jump between bridge, blended, or neck voicing on the fly. The Bigsby B60 vibrato tailpiece adds pitch-bending drama for surf, rockabilly, or anything that calls for a little shimmer, while the Adjusto-Matic bridge on its rosewood base keeps intonation stable.
The maple neck carries a comfortable “U” profile with a rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and a 12″ radius, striking a balance between vintage feel and modern playability. Pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays and the smaller late-’50s-style G6120 bound headstock give it that instantly recognizable Gretsch personality, while a Graph Tech NuBone nut helps tuning stability and string glide.
Other details worth noting:
- Oversized bound F-holes with aged multi-ply body binding
- Vintage-style open-back tuning machines
- Silver plexi pickguard with black Gretsch logo
- G-Arrow control knobs
- Nickel-plated steel strings, .010-.046
Whether you’re chasing twangy rockabilly runs, jangly indie chords, or moody surf leads, the G5420T delivers real Gretsch character without the vintage price tag.
