Before Gretsch’s Duo Jet became a design icon, only a handful left the factory finished in Cadillac Green with gold hardware — a limited, uptown variation on the standard model. The G6128T-57 Vintage Select Edition brings that scarce configuration back, built to the specs and character of the original golden-age instruments.
At its core is the same chambered mahogany body that defined the Duo Jet from the start. Rather than a true hollow build, the chambering lets air move between the arched laminated maple top and the mahogany back, opening up harmonic complexity and a livelier, more articulate voice than a slab solid body could offer. A mahogany neck with a Standard “U” profile and rosewood board keep the feel period-correct, while aged white binding and aged pearloid hump-block inlays give it that lived-in vintage look right out of the case.
Loaded with a pair of TV Jones T-Armond pickups, this Duo Jet channels the vintage DynaSonic tone Gretsch players chased for decades — punchy, chiming, and full of midrange bite. A Bigsby vibrato adds pitch-bending shimmer and vibrato depth, while the Synchro-Sonic bridge and Grover Sta-Tite tuners keep tuning stable through aggressive playing.
