Description
Don’t let the compact frame fool you — the PRS SE P20E packs a professional-grade voice into a parlor-sized package. Built entirely from mahogany, top included, it produces a warm, organic tone with a woody midrange character that mahogany players tend to chase.
PRS designed the top bracing using a hybrid “X”/Classical pattern, letting the soundboard move more freely than a typical steel-string layout. The payoff is a bold, even response across the fretboard rather than a boomy bass or thin top end. Combined with the smaller body, it’s an instrument that stays comfortable in your lap through long writing or practice sessions and travels easily when you need to grab it and go.
Plugged in, the story continues. A Fishman SonoTone electronics package pairs an undersaddle pickup with a soundhole-mounted preamp, putting volume and tone controls right where your hand naturally falls. That setup captures the acoustic’s natural character rather than flattening it out, so the P20E moves credibly from a quiet demo take to a full band mix on stage. Parlor guitars sometimes get written off as couch instruments for noodling at home, but this one is built to also earn its keep at rehearsal, in the studio, or under stage lights.
