The AB24-5S brings Ovation’s distinctive rounded-back design into budget-friendly territory as part of the Applause series. Instead of a traditional flat-back acoustic shape, it uses Ovation’s signature Lyrachord bowl construction, built here in a mid-depth profile. That means you get the added internal resonance and volume that the rounded body is known for, without the bulk of a full-depth bowl getting in the way while you’re seated or standing with a strap.
Plugging in is simple thanks to the onboard electronics package. A CT-600A active pickup captures your playing and feeds it into a CE304T preamp, giving you a clear, balanced signal whether you’re recording direct or running through a PA. From there, a 3-band EQ lets you shape bass, mid, and treble on the fly, a volume knob keeps your output in check, and a built-in tuner means you can check your pitch without reaching for a separate pedal or clip-on unit.
