Description
Chris Broderick made his name tearing through thrash-metal fretboards with Megadeth, and this Soloist 6 is his personal blueprint for a modern metal weapon. Developed alongside Jackson Custom Shop Master Builder Mike Shannon, the guitar pairs an offset arch-top mahogany body with a quilt maple top, and the same figured maple carries over to a matching headstock cap for a striking, cohesive look under the gloss black finish.
The quartersawn maple neck is bound in quilt maple and set with a Floyd Rose nut, while natural binding wraps both the body and headstock edges for contrast against the dark ebony fingerboard. That fingerboard runs a fast 12″ radius across 24 jumbo stainless steel frets, giving Broderick’s rapid-fire runs and wide bends plenty of room to breathe. A recessed Floyd Rose Pro bridge with black hardware handles the whammy abuse, while Planet Waves Auto-Trim tuners keep string changes quick and tuning stable.
Tone comes from a pair of Custom DiMarzio humbuckers designed specifically for Broderick and direct-mounted for maximum output and clarity, controlled by master volume, master tone, and a killswitch for staccato chop effects. A side-mounted Rhoads-style jack rounds out the practical touches.
