Description
The G2420T Streamliner takes Gretsch’s hollow body heritage and pushes it toward louder, heavier territory. Instead of vintage-voiced pickups, this one’s built around the Broad’Tron BT-2S humbuckers—a Streamliner-exclusive design that trades some of the airy chime of classic Gretsch pickups for tighter low end, cutting highs, and a midrange with real bite. It’s a hollow body that can handle gain without falling apart, while still cleaning up nicely for jangly rhythm work.
Controls stay familiar and functional: independent volume knobs for neck and bridge pickups, a master volume, master tone, and a three-way selector for quick switching. The nato neck wears a thin “U” profile that suits both open chords and faster lead lines, topped with a 12″ radius laurel fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and pearloid Hump Block inlays. A Bigsby B60 vibrato tailpiece adds pitch-bending shimmer, and it’s paired with an Adjusto-Matic bridge on a laurel base plus a synthetic bone nut for dependable tuning.
Visually, it checks every Gretsch box: arched laminated maple top and back, enlarged F-holes for extra acoustic breathing room, aged white body and neck binding with upgraded purfling, nickel hardware, and a three-ply tortoise pickguard—all wrapped in a Riviera Blue gloss finish that photographs as good as it plays.
