Description
The Malibu Special takes Fender’s small-body California design and gives it a shorter 24.1″ scale, so strings feel noticeably looser and easier to bend into new voicings. That slinkier playing feel encourages you to explore chord shapes you might otherwise avoid on a standard-scale flattop, without giving up projection or clarity.
Visually, it stands apart from typical acoustics: the solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and matching headstock all wear a painted satin finish, trimmed in maple binding for a sharp look in Matte Black. Under the hood, optimized internal bracing cuts unnecessary mass to boost resonance, while an upgraded bone nut and saddle help sustain ring out longer and cleaner.
Plugged in, the guitar relies on a Fender/Fishman-designed preamp tuned specifically to the Malibu body shape, preserving the acoustic character rather than flattening it into a generic electric tone. The mahogany neck carries a slim-taper “C” profile that suits fingerstyle and strumming alike, paired with a pau ferro fingerboard and matching bridge that add warmth and definition to the voice.
A gig bag is included, making the Malibu Special ready to grab and go.
