Description
Fender didn’t reinvent the Telecaster so much as sharpen every edge of it. The American Professional Telecaster takes the blueprint that’s defined electric guitar tone for decades and refines it piece by piece, keeping what worked and quietly upgrading what didn’t. This ash-body version in Natural finish pairs a lightweight, resonant tonewood with a rosewood fingerboard for a warmer, slightly softer top end than its maple counterpart.
At the heart of it are Tim Shaw’s V-Mod single-coil pickups, each voiced individually for its position using a specific blend of alnico magnets. The result is classic Tele snap with more nuance across the neck and bridge selections. The redesigned bridge uses three compensated brass barrel saddles under a slimmer ashtray cover, improving intonation accuracy while staying true to the original’s look and feel. A treble-bleed circuit on the volume control means you keep your high-end sparkle even as you dial back the gain.
The neck is where a lot of the playability upgrade happens. Fender’s new “Deep C” profile sits between a Modern C and a U shape, giving your hand a bit more to hold onto without feeling clubby. Narrow-tall frets make bending and fretting up the neck feel more precise, and a bone nut adds a touch of vintage-correct resonance.
