The G5655TG takes the Electromatic Center Block Jr. formula and dials it in for players who want vintage Gretsch tone at rock-club volume. A chambered spruce center block sits inside the laminated maple body, taming feedback while keeping that airy, resonant snap that hollow-body fans chase. The compact single-cut shape and 1.75″ body depth make it noticeably easier to handle on stage than a full-size Gretsch archtop, without sacrificing the acoustic liveliness that gives these guitars their voice.
Up the neck, a Thin “U” maple neck with aged white binding runs to a 12″ radius laurel fingerboard, loaded with 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid NeoClassic thumbnail inlays. The 24.6″ scale and 1.6875″ nut width strike a comfortable middle ground for chord work and lead runs alike.
Tone comes from a pair of Black Top Broad’Tron humbucking pickups, wired with independent volume controls for each pickup plus master volume and tone, and switched via a standard 3-position toggle. Expect a bigger, more aggressive humbucker growl than Gretsch’s Filter’Trons, with enough clarity to stay articulate under gain.
Gold hardware throughout gives this guitar serious stage presence: a Bigsby B70 vibrato tailpiece for shimmer and pitch dives, an anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge, die-cast gold tuners, gold pickup covers, and G-arrow control knobs, all set against the Cadillac Green gloss finish with aged white body binding.
