Fishman built the ToneDEQ AFX for acoustic players who need everything a live rig demands without stacking pedals and boxes. Preamp, EQ, compressor, level boost, dual effects, and a balanced DI all live in a single unit, and the entire audio path stays analog from input to output. Even the onboard digital effects run in parallel rather than inline, so your instrument’s natural voice never gets colored by processing.
At the front end is a discrete Class-A JFET preamp with a 10 megohm input impedance, the kind of high-impedance staging that passive acoustic pickups need to sound full rather than thin. Behind that sits a 4-band EQ (bass, mid, treble) with a variable low cut, letting you tame the boomy sub-bass some passive pickups produce while still shaping tone with real precision.
Dynamics are handled by a soft-knee compressor plus a footswitchable boost that adds up to 9dB when you need to cut through a mix or step into a solo. A selectable phase invert switch is on hand for feedback-prone stages. For effects, choose between two reverbs, two delays, chorus, and either flanger or tremolo — enough variety to cover most acoustic gig scenarios without leaving the box.
On the output side, you get a 1/4" amp output alongside a fully balanced XLR DI with automatic ground lift and selectable pre/post EQ routing, keeping noise low whether you’re running to a house PA or a backline amp.
