Description

Since 1986, Slash has tracked nearly everything through one prized Les Paul. Seymour Duncan built the Alnico II Pro Slash so his other Les Pauls could chase that same recorded tone, and this is the bridge unit from that design, dressed in reverse zebra bobbins.

Built around an Alnico 2 magnet like the classic APH-1, this version carries a touch more output, enough to nudge a stock Les Paul into the sweet sustain and gritty crunch Slash is known for across countless recordings. Seymour Duncan carried over the details from the pickups in Slash’s own ’86 guitar, including a single-conductor cable, long-legged baseplate, and wooden spacer. It’s the same pickup Gibson installs in its current Slash signature Les Paul, making it a genuine reference point for that tone rather than an approximation.

Where it shines:

  • Warm, moderate-output humbucker suited to jazz, blues, and classic rock
  • Pairs naturally with an SFX-11 Twin Tube Blue overdrive for singing leads and full-bodied chords
  • Works beautifully in any well-balanced humbucker guitar, not just Les Pauls, including hollow and semi-hollow bodies

For the full recording-guitar setup, run this reverse zebra bridge pickup alongside its zebra-finished neck counterpart, mirroring the configuration on Slash’s famous instrument. It’s sold individually or as part of a matched zebra/reverse zebra pair.
