Description
The original Jazz Model helped define what a great neck humbucker should sound like, and the SH-2n Jazz Rails takes that DNA and pours it into a rail-bar design tailored for 7-string guitars. Instead of individual pole pieces, each string tracks across an Alnico VIII bar magnet, which spreads magnetic pull evenly across the entire width of the pickup. The payoff is consistent output and tone from your low B all the way up to the high E, with none of the string-to-string volume dips that traditional pole-piece pickups can suffer from.
Tonally, you get the hallmarks that made the Jazz Model famous: extended treble response paired with a tight, defined low end, all wrapped in a clear, articulate voice with plenty of sustain. It’s an especially good fit for players who dig in hard or run extended-range tunings, since the rail design keeps things focused and punchy rather than muddy. Pair it with the SH-4 JB Rails in the bridge for a matched set that covers rhythm and lead duties with equal confidence.
Every SH-2n Jazz Rails is handbuilt at Seymour Duncan’s Santa Barbara, California factory. Inside, you’ll find vacuum wax-potted coils to keep microphonic squeal at bay, along with 4-conductor lead wire that opens up wiring options like coil-splitting for players who want more tonal flexibility.
