The RRT-5 carries forward the angular legacy that Randy Rhoads made famous, but Jackson’s Pro Series treatment pushes it well past reissue territory. An alder body in Gloss Black meets a three-piece maple neck-through-body construction, giving the guitar a seamless connection from headstock to end pin along with graphite reinforcement for extra stability under aggressive playing.
Up top, the ebony fingerboard uses a compound radius that runs from 12″ at the lower frets to 16″ up high, so chords feel comfortable near the nut while bends and leads stay effortless further up the neck. Jumbo frets and pearloid sharkfin inlays are set into a white-bound board, and the neck itself wears an oiled natural finish that keeps the maple feeling fast and grippy rather than sticky.
Tone comes from a proven Seymour Duncan pairing – the JB SH4 in the bridge for punch and cutting distortion, and the smoother Jazz SH2N in the neck for expressive leads and cleaner passages. A simple three-way toggle handles switching, backed by master volume and tone controls, so dialing in a sound stays quick between songs.
Hardware is finished in gold throughout, including the sealed die-cast tuners and the adjustable string-through-body bridge, which helps sustain ring out cleanly. Dunlop straplocks come installed for players who don’t want to worry about a guitar shaped like this one shifting mid-set.
