Every guitarist eventually needs a Strat that just works — and the Player Stratocaster Plus Top is exactly that, wrapped in a finish with a little extra flair. The alder body wears a Tobacco Sunburst gloss polyester finish over a book-matched top, giving this instrument some visual depth without straying from Fender’s classic Stratocaster silhouette.
Plug in and you get the trademark Strat voice: chiming highs, growly mids, and a low end with real backbone. That’s thanks to the three Player Series Alnico 5 single-coils wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume, and dual tone controls, letting you dial in everything from glassy cleans to biting lead tones.
The maple neck is carved in a Modern “C” profile — comfortable in the hand for chords or lead runs — and paired with a Pau Ferro fingerboard at a 9.5″ radius. Fender added a 22nd medium jumbo fret over the standard Strat layout, opening up a bit more range at the top of the neck. A synthetic bone nut and dual-wing string tree keep things stable at the headstock, while the updated 2-point tremolo bridge offers smoother action and steadier tuning thanks to reduced friction at the posts.
Rounding things out: sealed tuning machines, a 3-ply black/white/black pickguard, parchment control knobs, and the four-bolt “F”-stamped neck plate that confirms this one’s the genuine article.
