1964 marked a quiet but important shift in Telecaster design, and this American Vintage ’64 model tracks those changes with real precision rather than guesswork. Fender pulled original vintage examples out of storage to reverse-engineer the tooling, pickup voicing, and color formulas, so what you’re getting isn’t a modern guitar dressed up to look old — it’s built to the actual specs of the era.

The neck tells the story best: gone is the chunkier maple profile of the ’50s, replaced here with a more rounded mid-’60s “C” shape topped in round-laminated rosewood with larger pearl dot inlays. It’s a noticeably different feel in the hand, geared toward the playing style that took over as the ’60s progressed. This White Blonde example uses a lightweight ash body rather than alder, giving it the classic bright, resonant character associated with the finish.

Electronics come from the American Vintage ’64 Gray-Bottom single-coil set, wired to a simple three-position blade switch (bridge, bridge+neck, neck) with master volume and tone. Staggered bridge pickup pole magnets and threaded steel “barrel” saddles round out the vintage-correct detailing, along with a three-ply eight-hole pickguard, top-hat switch tip, and knurled chrome control knobs.
