Description
Originally sketched by Leo Fender back in 1969 and left on the shelf, the Espada has been revived by G&L with a twin-humbucker layout that pushes its versatility further than ever. This USA-built CLF Research model wears a striking Honeyburst finish and pairs vintage design lineage with genuinely modern electronics.
- A matched set of G&L alnico humbuckers handles the tonal duties, staying clean and articulate at the neck while adding extra bite and output at the bridge.
- The wide Espada control plate keeps things organized with dedicated volume, treble, and bass knobs, each topped with chrome CLF Research knurled caps for a classy touch.
- Two mini-toggle switches expand the sonic palette further: one splits the coils on both pickups for single-coil tones, while the other selects between modes on the built-in active preamp.
- Anchoring it all is G&L’s Saddle Lock hardtail bridge, engineered for rock-solid sustain, tuning stability, and comfortable playing feel.
Between the active/passive flexibility, coil-splitting, and that Saddle Lock bridge, the Espada HH Active is built to cover a wide swath of tones from one guitar — arguably the most complete design G&L has put out to date.
