Leo Fender’s final take on the classic single-cutaway design gets a factory mod in the ASAT Tribute Classic Bluesboy. Rather than sticking with dual single-coils, G&L pairs an alnico humbucker in the neck with a single-coil MFD (Magnetic Field Design) pickup at the bridge, giving you a genuinely different set of tonal options in one instrument.
The neck humbucker (G&L AS4255C) brings the thick, rounded warmth players reach for on smoky blues runs and sustained leads, while the MFD bridge pickup, mounted in a traditional boxed-steel bridge with individual brass saddles, cuts through with sharp attack and rich harmonic detail. Dial in precise intonation thanks to those brass saddles, then flip the 3-way switch to move between humbucker warmth, single-coil snap, or a blended in-between voice.
This example wears a 3-Tone Sunburst finish over a swamp ash body, matched with a tortoise pickguard and a clear satin-finished maple neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard. The medium C profile and 1 5/8″ nut width keep it comfortable in hand, while 22 medium jumbo nickel frets and an 9″ radius support both chord work and bending.
Built in the Tribute Series, it carries the design DNA of G&L’s USA models at a price built for gigging musicians.
