Description
The Fullerton Deluxe S-500 takes G&L’s Option Order favorites and puts them into a ready-to-ship package, so you get the tone woods, colors, and hardware combos players actually request most. Bodies come in alder, swamp ash, or western sugar pine depending on finish, paired with pickguards chosen to complement the color underneath. The neck wears G&L’s Clear Tint Satin finish for a look and feel that matches the body’s craftsmanship.
Available configurations include 3-Tone Sunburst over Alder with a 3-ply parchment pickguard and your choice of maple or Caribbean Rosewood fingerboard, Andromeda over Alder with a 3-ply pearl pickguard and Caribbean Rosewood board, and Plum Metallic over Alder with a 3-ply black pickguard and Caribbean Rosewood board.
Leo Fender designed the original S-500 in 1982 as his own take on the classic bolt-on formula, and this Fullerton Deluxe edition keeps his key innovations intact:
- Magnetic Field Design (MFD) single-coil pickups delivering a bright, sparkling top end and a solid low end without sacrificing midrange presence
- PTB (Passive Treble and Bass) circuitry that lets you shape treble and bass independently across all three pickups, staying glassy and articulate even with the volume rolled back
- A mini-toggle Expander Switch that unlocks neck+bridge or all-three-pickup combinations beyond the standard five-position switch — the neck+bridge blend gets remarkably close to an ASAT Special voice
- Leo’s Dual-Fulcrum vibrato with a beefy aluminum arm, built for stable, smooth pitch bends in either direction
- Hard-rock maple neck in a satin finish, 9.5" fingerboard radius, and medium-jumbo nickel frets for deep bends and effortless playability
Every Fullerton Deluxe S-500 is built at G&L’s original Fullerton, California facility — the same site Leo Fender opened in 1980, often called the Birthplace of Bolt-on. It’s a guitar shaped by his restless design instincts, made for players chasing that same forward motion.
