Description
The Fullerton Deluxe S-500 takes G&L’s classic double-cutaway design and dresses it up with some of the most requested finish and pickguard combos from the Option Order menu. Bodies are alder, dressed in either 3-Tone Sunburst with a 3-ply parchment pickguard, Andromeda with pearl, or Plum Metallic with black — each paired with a Caribbean Rosewood fingerboard (maple also available on the Sunburst). A Clear Tint Satin neck finish carries that attention to detail all the way up the fretboard.
Underneath the good looks sits real engineering. Leo Fender designed the S-500’s three Magnetic Field Design pickups himself, and they still deliver that signature blend: sparkling highs, a full low end, and midrange that never gets lost in the mix. Roll back the volume or bass and the tone doesn’t collapse — it opens up into something glassy and articulate, thanks to the passive treble and bass (PTB) circuit working across all three pickups.
A mini-toggle Expander Switch adds extra pickup combinations beyond the standard five-position switch, including neck+bridge together — a setting that gets surprisingly close to an ASAT Special tone. The Dual-Fulcrum vibrato, another Leo Fender design, holds tuning stability through aggressive bends in either direction, and its beefy aluminum arm feels smooth under the hand.
Playability comes from a hard-rock maple neck with a satin finish, 9.5″ fingerboard radius, and medium-jumbo nickel frets — a setup built for deep bends and fast runs alike.
