Description
The JP70 puts John Petrucci’s signature design language into a 7-string platform aimed at players who need range without sacrificing playability. It’s modeled closely on the Ernie Ball Music Man JP7, translating the core specs that make Petrucci’s own guitars feel fast and stay in tune through aggressive playing.
A basswood body finished in the swirling Mystic Dream graphic pairs with a contoured forearm scoop for comfortable long-session playing. The hard maple neck carries a 16″ radius rosewood fingerboard with 24 medium jumbo frets and Petrucci’s custom JP inlays, plus the “JP Shield” logo set into the first fret as a signature touch. At 1.95″ wide at the nut, the neck is built to handle the extra low string without feeling cramped, and a 5-bolt neck joint with dual-action truss rod keeps things solid and adjustable.
For low-end tracking and dive-bomb stability alike, the full floating modern tremolo bridge is built specifically for 7-string tension, and die-cast locking tuners help keep the extended range in tune. Simple HH pickup wiring with 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3-way toggle keeps the controls intuitive so you can focus on playing rather than fiddling with switches.
