Left-handed players chasing serious low-end tone will find a lot to like in the SLS Elite-5. Its neck-through construction runs the full length of the instrument, fusing body and neck into one continuous piece for sustain that behaves more like a violin than a typical bass guitar. That sustain holds strong even up past the 20th fret, thanks to a 3-piece neck that keeps things stable under tension.
The swamp ash body is finished in Black Fade Burst and topped with a richly figured flame maple veneer, bound in ivory for a sharp contrast against the grain. Schecter carved the body to sit naturally against the player while opening up unobstructed access to the upper frets — useful territory on a 5-string.
Tone comes from a pair of direct-mounted Fishman Fluence active soapbar pickups, controlled through a 3-way voicing switch and push-pull coil splitting for a wide spread of sonic options. A 2-band active EQ lets you shape lows and highs on the fly, so the SLS Elite-5 moves comfortably from vintage funk and soul textures into aggressive modern rock and metal territory.
Hardware backs up the playability: a permanently lubricated TUSQ XL nut keeps tuning stable, Grover tuners hold pitch reliably in the studio or on stage, and a dual-action truss rod with an easy-access neck heel wheel makes setup adjustments simple without pulling the neck off.
