Description
The Damien Platinum 6 FR-S is Schecter’s answer for players who want aggressive tone and rock-solid tuning stability in one package. A mahogany body sits under a set neck with Ultra Access joint, letting you reach the upper frets without the body getting in the way — useful given the 24 jumbo frets and 25.5″ scale on offer here.
That neck is built from 3 pieces of maple, a construction choice meant to resist warping from humidity and temperature swings over the years, topped with a rosewood fingerboard. Rosewood’s natural oils soak up stray overtones, giving you a fundamental-forward tone that feels good under the fingers session after session. Platinum bat inlays and multi-ply binding dress up the fretboard visually.
Electronics come from EMG: an active 81 in the bridge delivers ceramic-magnet punch, tight low end, and cutting highs for high-gain riffing, while the Sustainiac driver/pickup gives you a switchable option — normal humbucker tone with the sustain switch off, or infinite electromagnetic feedback sustain when it’s flipped on. Controls include volume, tone, an intensity knob, a 3-way pickup switch, an on-off DPDT mini switch, and a 3-way mode DPDT mini switch for dialing in the Sustainiac behavior.
A Floyd Rose Special bridge handles tremolo duties, backed by Grover Rotomatic tuners with an 18:1 gear ratio for finer tuning adjustments and better backlash elimination — meaning less drift after aggressive whammy use. Satin chrome hardware and a Satin Black finish round out the look.
