Description
The SE Hollowbody II Piezo gives you two guitars in one body. Built with a maple top and back paired with mahogany sides, it has that light, springy resonance hollowbodies are known for, while still holding together like a solid-body when you dig in. PRS-designed 58/15 “S” pickups sit at the core of its electric voice, delivering clear, balanced humbucker tone that stays musical rather than muddy, even with the extra air of a hollow chamber behind it.
What sets this SE apart is the L.R. Baggs/PRS-designed piezo system built right into the bridge. Instead of just one output, you get two: a mix/piezo jack and a magnetic-only jack, each with its own independent volume control. Run everything through the mix jack and blend magnetic pickup tone with piezo-driven acoustic character using the dedicated volume knobs. Or split them entirely — send the magnetic signal to your amp while the piezo goes straight to an acoustic amp or DI at the board, letting you cover electric and acoustic-flavored parts in the same set without swapping guitars. Plug into the magnetic jack alone and the piezo circuit is bypassed completely, so a dead battery never leaves you stranded mid-gig.
The fat mahogany neck feels substantial in hand and is topped with an ebony fingerboard and PRS’s signature bird inlays, a set-in joint, and a 25″ scale that keeps string tension familiar and playable.
