The G2420T Streamliner takes the vintage hollow-body formula and updates it for guitarists who want big, resonant tone without the vintage-guitar fragility or price tag. Finished in Havana Burst, this single-cut’s fully hollow arched maple body opens up with the kind of airy, three-dimensional sound that only a true hollow body can produce – warm on cleans, feedback-happy in a good way when you push an amp into overdrive.
Under the hood, a pair of all-new Broad’Tron BT-3S humbuckers give this guitar more output and clarity than older Gretsch pickup designs, with a push/pull coil-split on the master volume knob for chiming, single-coil-ish tones when you need them. Master volume, master tone, and individual pickup volumes give you full control over blending and shaping your sound on the fly, all through vintage-style radio control knobs.
The soft C-shaped Nato neck feels substantial without being a handful, topped with a 12-inch radius laurel fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and pearloid Neo Classic thumbnail inlays. A real bone nut helps with sustain and tuning stability at the headstock end, while an Adjusto-Matic bridge on a secured laurel base keeps intonation solid down at the body.
Of course, no Streamliner is complete without the wiggle – a Bigsby B60 vibrato tailpiece adds pitch-bending flair for surf, rockabilly, or just some subtle vibrato on ballads. Nickel hardware and a three-ply tortoise pickguard round out the classic Gretsch look.
