Description
The Ovation 1778TX Elite TX takes the brand’s signature roundback design and trims the depth for a more manageable, stage-friendly instrument without sacrificing volume or tone. Its Lyrachord bowl is topped with an AA grade solid spruce soundboard braced in a scalloped “X” pattern, giving the guitar clear, articulate note definition. Bass-side soundholes help push out low-end that might otherwise get lost in a mid-depth body, so the low strings stay full and present whether you’re strumming or fingerpicking.
Where this guitar really sets itself apart is in the neck. Ovation built it slim, from hard-rock maple with a stained rosewood fingerboard, aiming for the quick, low-effort feel guitarists expect from an electric rather than an acoustic. That same construction also contributes to a longer sustain than you’d typically get from a traditional flat-top.
Plugging in reveals the OP-Pro preamp, loaded with a three-band EQ, dedicated volume control, a preset tone-enhancement circuit, low-battery warning light, and a built-in tuner so you’re never digging for a separate pedal before a set. The OCP-1K pickup underneath feeds that preamp a balanced, natural signal, translating the guitar’s unplugged character to the PA rather than a processed or artificial substitute.
