Some guitars try to impress you with size; the Jim Dandy wins you over with character. Modeled after the Gretsch “Rex” parlor guitars that turned generations of beginners into lifelong players, the G9500 shrinks the body without shrinking the tone.
Built from select basswood with X-bracing, the non-cutaway body is fully lined and braced to project a surprisingly warm, resonant voice for its size. A 24″ scale keeps the reach short and comfortable, whether you’re flatpicking, fingerpicking, or just noodling on the couch. The “C”-profile nato neck joins the body at the 12th fret and carries a walnut fingerboard dressed with vintage-style frets and pearloid dot inlays – smooth under the fingers and easy to navigate.
A top-load walnut bridge paired with a compensated synthetic bone saddle keeps intonation accurate all the way up the neck, while a synthetic bone nut rounds out the setup. Finished in satin Frontier, the Jim Dandy is dressed with 1950s-style open-gear die-cast tuners, nickel hardware, vintage end-pin strap buttons, and a single-ply white pickguard bearing Gretsch’s classic “G” graphic.
