Description
The oud has been part of musical tradition for centuries, but Godin’s MultiOud Encore Nylon SG brings this 11-string instrument into modern playing contexts without stripping away its character. Rather than the pear-shaped, bulbous-backed body of traditional ouds, this version features a flat-back design with an upper bout cutaway, giving players real access to the fretless rosewood fingerboard instead of fighting an unwieldy shape.
Tone comes from a two-chambered Canadian Laurentian basswood body paired with a solid cedar top, a combination built for natural projection and a warm, resonant voice even unplugged. A rosewood bridge complements the fingerboard for a cohesive, handsome look throughout.
Where this instrument really sets itself apart is in its electronics. An EPM Quantum 1T system with an undersaddle transducer lets you plug straight into a PA or amp and hold your own in a full band mix, while onboard volume, bass, and treble controls put shaping your tone directly at your fingertips. A built-in chromatic tuner also addresses one of the oud’s longstanding challenges — tuning stability — alongside custom machine heads designed to keep all eleven strings settled.
