Description
Some pedals chase a general acoustic tone; this one was voiced for a single instrument family by the man who plays it best. The Fishman ProAiPJD1 carries 16 custom Aura Images that Jerry Douglas himself created and uses on resophonic guitar, capturing the mic’d-up character of a dobro without the hassle of actually mic’ing one on stage.
Behind the images sits serious engineering: 24-bit A/D/A conversion with 32-bit internal processing keeps the signal clean and detailed. You get hands-on control over volume, blend, and image selection, plus a phase switch to tame feedback at higher stage volumes. A bypass/mute footswitch lets you cut in and out cleanly, while the input trim control comes with a clip/low-battery indicator so you’re never caught off guard mid-set. It runs on a 9V battery or an AC adapter, giving you flexibility for stage or studio.
Larry Fishman didn’t build this alone — Jerry Douglas, engineer Bil VornDick, and resonator builder Paul Beard all had a hand in shaping it, which is why the amplified tone feels less like an effect and more like the real instrument, faithfully reproduced night after night.
