At the core of the Scourge sits an Alnico 8 magnet, chosen specifically for its firmer low end and slightly compressed midrange response compared to more common Alnico 5 designs. That translates into a pickup that leans into the low-to-mid frequencies without turning muddy, which matters a lot when you’re running extended-range or heavily downtuned guitars through high-gain amps. Chord progressions retain their harmonic separation, and single-note lines cut through the mix rather than blurring together.
