Fishman’s Fluence Modern pickups rethink what an active humbucker can do, and this 7-string set doubles the fun by combining an Alnico-based model with a Ceramic-based one. Instead of committing to a single tone, each pickup gives you three separate voicings on tap: a classic passive humbucker sound, a hotter active humbucker character, and a cleaned-up single-coil option. That’s six total voicings across the set before you even start blending the neck and bridge pickups against each other for even more tonal combinations.
Because there’s no wax coil to slowly degrade, Fluence pickups sidestep the tonal drift and noise issues that come with age in traditional pickups u2014 what you hear on day one is what you hear years down the road. Battery life is generous too, with up to 200 hours of playing time per charge, so gigging and practicing don’t turn into a constant battery-swapping chore.
Installation is straightforward: these pickups share standard humbucker dimensions, so they’ll drop into most humbucker-routed 7-string guitars without requiring extra routing or modification, and everything needed for the swap is included in the box.
