Description
The Fullerton Deluxe Comanche gathers up some of the most requested combinations from G&L’s Option Order menu into one ready-to-play package. Bodies are alder or swamp ash depending on finish, each paired with a pickguard chosen to complement the color, and the neck wears G&L’s Clear Tint Satin finish for a smooth, understated feel.
Choose from four looks: 3-Tone Sunburst over Alder with a 3-ply parchment guard, Midnight Blue Metallic over Alder with a 3-ply pearl guard, Blonde over Swamp Ash with a 1-ply white guard, or Honeyburst over Swamp Ash with a 3-ply pearl guard. All four come with maple fingerboards.
The Comanche represents Leo Fender’s last word on the double-cutaway bolt-on design, and its signature feature is unmistakable the moment you plug in: the Magnetic Field Design Z-Coil pickups he engineered himself. They’re voiced with a bright, sparkling top end and a firm low end, and they stay dead quiet — no 60-cycle hum to fight.
Backing off the volume and bass reveals a surprisingly glassy, detailed side to these pickups, thanks in part to the Comanche’s PTB (Passive Treble and Bass) circuit, which lets you cut treble and bass independently. A mini-toggle Expander Switch opens up neck+bridge and all-three-pickup combinations beyond the standard five-position switching — the neck+bridge blend even gets you into faux ASAT Special territory.
Rounding things out is Leo’s Dual-Fulcrum vibrato, engineered for stable pitch bends in either direction with a smooth pull from its aluminum arm.
