Description
The PRS SE Silver Sky brings the celebrated feel and sound of the original John Mayer signature guitar into a more accessible package, without cutting corners on what makes the design work. Underneath that Dragon Fruit finish sits a poplar body paired with a bolt-on maple neck, giving the guitar a lively, resonant character that pairs naturally with its bright single-coil voice.
The neck itself is where this guitar really shines. PRS carried over the original 635JM carve profile, a shape developed directly with Mayer, and matched it to an 8.5″ fretboard radius rosewood board. With 22 frets and a 25.5″ scale, chords ring clear and bends feel effortless, while the classic PRS bird inlays add a subtle touch of elegance to the fingerboard.
Tone comes from a trio of 635JM “S” single-coil pickups, wired to a master volume, two tone controls, and a five-way switch for a full range of classic in-between and single-pickup voices. The inverted headstock shape is a signature visual cue of the Silver Sky line, while a two-point steel tremolo, synthetic bone nut, double-acting truss rod, and vintage-style tuners round out the hardware for stable tuning and expressive whammy work.
