Description
Twelve-string guitars usually fight you a little — thick necks, stiff action, boomy low end. The Godin A12 sets out to fix that. Its two-chamber Silver Leaf Maple body is only two inches deep, which keeps the guitar light and manageable while still moving plenty of air. A book-matched solid cedar top sits on that chambered body, giving the A12 a warm, resonant voice that avoids the muddiness some 12-strings suffer from.
The neck is where a lot of the playability comes from. Godin uses rock maple with a 25 1/2″ scale, a 16″ fingerboard radius, and a 1 11/16″ nut width, so chords feel closer to a well-set-up 6-string than a typical 12-string wrestling match. The rosewood fingerboard adds smoothness under the fingers as you move around the neck.
Plugging in is straightforward and flexible thanks to the custom Godin under-saddle transducer paired with a top-mounted preamp. Onboard Volume, Mid, Treble, and Bass controls let you dial in your tone on the fly, whether you’re shaping a full, chimey strum for recording or cutting through a mix live.
