Fender built the Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster in direct collaboration with the man himself, modeling it after his battered, beloved “Number One” – the guitar that defined an entire era of blues-rock guitar tone. What you get here is a faithful, meticulously specced tribute to that instrument, right down to the details that made SRV’s playing feel so physical and expressive.
The neck is the story: an early-’60s oval profile, thick and substantial under the hand, paired with a pau ferro fingerboard set to a 12″ radius and fitted with 21 Dunlop 6105 narrow jumbo frets. It’s a neck built for big bends and heavy vibrato. Three Texas Special single-coil pickups deliver that gutsy, slightly hotter Strat voice, wired through the classic master volume, dual tone, and 5-position blade switching you’d expect.
Gold-plated hardware throughout – including the Fender/Gotoh vintage-style tuners and the reverse (left-handed-style) vintage synchronized tremolo – nods directly to SRV’s original setup, right or left-handed players alike. The 3-ply black pickguard, engraved with the SRV initials, seals the tribute.
