Tim Armstrong of Rancid has spent decades writing songs on his beat-up Fender concert acoustic, and this signature model recreates that instrument with a few smart modern upgrades. It’s a versatile workhorse suited to punk, folk, pop, or rock, whether you’re strumming unplugged at home or running direct into a PA.
The solid mahogany top pairs with scalloped X bracing to let the soundboard breathe, giving the guitar a warmer, more resonant voice than a standard braced top would allow. Laminated mahogany back and sides keep that tone focused, while the satin-finished maple neck in a comfortable “C” profile makes for effortless playing up and down the 20-fret walnut fingerboard. Look closely and you’ll spot the Hellcat inlays and double-skull markers at the 12th fret — signature touches that give this guitar real character beyond the spec sheet.
Plugging in is handled by a Fishman Isys III system with an active onboard preamp, built-in tuner, and dedicated volume and tone controls, so you get reliable amplified tone without sacrificing the guitar’s natural acoustic character. A rosewood bridge with a compensated Graph Tech NuBone saddle helps lock in intonation and sustain.
